Welcome to our forum! We assume you're here because you've read the forum rules and want to join us. If you haven't read the rules yet, go do so now.
While the cursed souls who wander this forum may be very friendly, we do have some stipulations as to what we accept from writers here. They are as follows:
1) Please title your application "Application" (without quotes).
We ask this for the sake of uniformity.
2) Your application must consist of prose.
We like poetry just fine here at Cursed Souls, but poetry is not going to tell us how well you can manipulate the English language and tell us a convincing story.
3) Your application must have a purpose.
What is a story without purpose? We don't ask for novels here but we do want to feel like you can control a plot and characters, and have those characters be people to whom we, as readers, can relate. Your application can either be a short (and we mean short) story, or in the style of a roleplay opening, but either way there needs to be some purpose.
4) Keep the SPaG errors to a minimum. Please.
SPaG stands for Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar. Keep this handy acronym in mind as you write. Use a dictionary if you must (www.dictionary.com is a great place), and don't try to command language that is beyond you. Stick to a level at which you are reasonably comfortable.
Also, if you make a habit of avoiding commas, periods, or any other essential English language conventions, Orimis will kick your ass. After a number of mistakes, your application will automatically be denied and you must re-apply (more on that below).
4a) You are allowed to break the rules in a way.
As a follow up to the above, we know some of you advanced writers are able to use the English language like a worn-out hooker. You may utilize run-ons and sentence fragments, etc. to communicate a point that may be lost in proper language, but we will know the difference between skill and ignorance, so watch out.
5) Double space.
This should be self-explanatory. We do not like squinting, and you can put aside your feud with the enter key for our sake. Not double-spacing is enough to warrant a denial of your application.
On re-applying:
You only have to do this if Orimis or Kujika say so. If they says so, this means they are giving you two (2) more chances to not suck as badly as you did the first time. All repeat applicants must label their application appropriately ("Second Application," "Third Application")
If you're denied because of SPaG errors, then you can get away with re-submitting your application with only minimal changes; if your application is denied because of overall weakness in the prose, you must edit your application heavily before re-applying.
Now go read the example(s) and submit your stuff. We can't wait to see what you've got.
