It was the middle of spring and the crisp morning air hinted that a storm would soon be approaching the Ichijoji prefecture. Cherry trees surrounded Ichijoji Castle and their small blossoms fell to the emerald green grass as if the tree's were crying. The dim light provided by the rising sun cast a pale glow over a small figure sitting on the dew soaked grass of the garden within the castle walls.
A soft, barely audible sigh escaped parted, full pink lips before sapphire blue orbs framed by silvery eyelashes glanced up from their preoccupied gaze upon a small yellow flower. The oceanic orbs watched as clouds began to roll in from the east and a frown marred the youthful face. "The storm that's coming will wash away the cherry blossoms..Don't you agree Sai-sama?" Murmured a gentle, calming voice.
Surprised, the youth turned around and stared at an old man whom was leaning against a shoji door leading to the inside of the servants quarters of the castle.
Sai tilted his head to the side, now relaxed from his initial state of panic and surprise. He shifted his gaze to the sky before it fell on the many cherry trees. "Mm..I suppose." Came the gentle reply from the youth.
The older man watched the young boy and took in the sight of his master. Sai was the eldest son of the Ichijoji clan and declared heir to the throne of Murase Ichijoji, Daimyo of the eastern precinct of Japan. Silver, shoulder length tresses framed a gentle featured face and lightly brushed against rosy cheeks. What captured the attention of both male and female suitors was the young master's sapphire orbs which shown with great kindness and gentleness. The beautiful boy truly took after his late mother, Lady Ayaka who recently passed away.
Stirred from his thoughts, the old man watched as his lord rose from his sitting position on the grass and smiled. "Shige-san, let us return inside before the rain starts. I believe father mentioned that he'd be going over the new Samurai he wanted to hire. I'd like to see what the old man has chosen. And I hope he didn't pick any weak young men."
Curious, Shige allowed his master to pass him before he spoke. "Sai-sama what do you mean?"
Smiling, Sai glanced over his shoulder at the taller man. "Of course you know Shige-san. I look like a younger version of my late mother. And since my father cannot put his hands on me for fear of an uprising, he satisfies his urges with pretty young men from the village. I'd rather not have my life in the hands of someone my father chooses to use as a sex toy."
Shige stood in shock as he watched the small male walk away toward the main room of the castle.
