It was a rather beautiful afternoon and the sky was a lovely light blue color; the white puffy clouds above forming shapes of all kinds. There was light laughter drifting from a small alcove of trees on Route 209 just outside of Solaceon Town, near the mysterious Lost Tower. Another bought of laughter could be heard as well as an cheerful 'Nine!' that followed.
That laughter was coming from a rather amused Pokemon trainer as he watched his Ninetales, Kian, play with the new edition to their team, a Misdreavus that he had named Sethos after he caught him. Sapphire orbs watched the two Pokemon seemingly dance around each other as a small smile played on his pale lips.
The trainer make a disgruntled noise as Sethos nearly tackled him as an attempt to be free of Kian's jolly nature. Instead of hiding as he had intended, Sethos boldly, yet playfully, stole the crimson flame decorated bandanna that covered the trainer's messy brunette locks. Making an amused noise, the ghost Pokemon dodged each of the teen's efforts to get it back.
"Come on now, Sethos! Give it back!" he yelled before jumping in another attempt to get it, laughing lightly. He wasn't very tall to begin with. Eventually, the brunette managed to get the bandanna back from his new friend, laughing all the while. The Ninetales seemed to laugh at him as he returned Sethos to his pokeball.
He playfully glared at the fire Pokemon before he calmly tied the bandanna back around his head, hiding most of his short messy chocolate colored locks. His bangs naturally slipped from the cloth, hanging longer then the rest of his hair and gracefully framed his pale face.
The trainer, Zell, smiled as he sat down against a tree, Kian lying in the grass beside him. He placed his hand lightly on the Pokemon's head, absently toying with the cream colored turf of fur, "Today was a good day, right Kian?" he asked the fox-Pokemon who merely nodded in reply.
It was a wonder that Zell was already all the way in the Sinnoh region. Originating in the Johto region, it was sort of hard to imagine that he had already come so far on his quest to become a Pokemon Master. He wondered absently what his family in Blackthorn City thought about this. He had been the only one to start with a Vulpix instead of a Dragon-type Pokemon, after all.
"Wanna go back to the town?" he asked Kian softly as he gently rubbed his head. The Ninetales seemed to think about it for a moment before he nodded in agreement.
Zell had always been amazed that Kian could understand him clearly, it wasn't like with his other Pokemon that understood very little and inflections of his voice. The fox Pokemon could actually understand the words.
Kian calmly stood before he turned to lead the way, causing the brunette to chuckle and pick up his bag. The Ninetales was always to prompt, it made him wonder if his partner would like the idea of actually ever being late for something. Probably not. Without a word, Zell got to his feet and followed the Pokemon past the Tower and to the small town a little ways away.

A warm breeze gently rustled through the tree branches above, sunlight filtering down on to the plush grass below. Dapples of soft light dancing upon the sleeping face of a wary traveler, thin yet muscular arms wrapped protectively around a small bundle of dark brown fur.
Long amethyst tresses were matted with leaves and twigs, dirt and mud coated most of the gem hued locks as well. Along with streaking the pale flesh of the young teen's face, slowly healing wounds ranging from simple scratches, scrapes and deep cuts littered every inch of skin revealed to the world around. Clutched in one mud coated and scraped up hand was a home-made whip, which had obviously been constructed from flexible sticks and the teen's belt. It was the only personal possession around.
"Mew.." The faint sound came from the small bundle of fur huddled as deep as possible in the teen's chest. Small furry ears twitching slightly at the sounds around, once again letting out a small 'mew' at the sound of laughter.
At the second soft noise, an emerald eye cracked open and peered down curiously at the tiny Eevee. "What is it, Soki? Are you feeling better?" His voice was soft and hoarse from running for so long without a taste of water. Throat sore and raw, it was amazing in itself that he could even speak in a whisper.
"Mew!" The fox-like Pokemon replied a bit excitedly, wiggling around slightly in his lap before managing to slip free, landing on the plush grass easily and stretching a bit. Making the young teen frown a bit, he was concerned for the small Pokemon, considering it had just recently fought off an unknown Pokemon and sustained a few bad wounds. And without his backpack he hadn't been able to properly treat them with a bit of antiseptic.
"You know, Soki, I don't think it was such a good idea to leave Vermilion City after all.. We've gotten in to such a terrible mess.."

Kian paused at the sound of a voice speaking near by. He turned his head towards the sound, his ears twitching slightly. Zell stopped to look in the direction his Ninetales was, "What is it?" he asked curiously, "Someone else is out here?" he blinked before he calmly began to follow the Pokemon that lead him though the near by foliage.
"Nine!" Kian called to the unknown Pokemon that he heard with human that wasn't so far off.
It was rare that Kian found enough interest in something he had heard that he would actually go looking for the source. The brunette tilted his head slightly as the sight that met him as he made his way though the trees.
He glanced at his Ninetales for a moment before walking past him to the youth lying on the grass. Sapphire eyes peered at the Eevee for a moment before he kneeled beside it's trainer, "Are you okay?" he asked softly, "What happened?" Zell couldn't help but be curious of what had caused all of these injuries.
Kain calmly made his way it sit beside his trainer, peering at the brown Pokemon with crimson colored eyes.
"There's a town near by, can you stand?"

A slightly shaky hand reached out to the small fox Pokemon, who, instinctively nuzzled it before padding closer and laying down. Another soft 'mew' emitting from concerned Pokemon, coal colored eyes looking upon his battered partner worriedly. Bushy tail stretching out slightly and caressing the teen's forearm affectionately. "Soki, should I really continue on? Maybe we should find the quickest way back home.. Dad would understand." Jin murmured weakly, smiling slightly at the gentle touches of his friend's soft tail to his wounded arm.
Furry ears twitched and swiveled about at the sounds of movement and a voice, a low growl suddenly emanating from the small Pokemon as it took a fighting stance. Causing the youth to frown, attempting to push himself up before simply collapsing back on to the ground with a curse. Emerald eyes widening in surprise upon seeing the Ninetales emerge from the bushes, from the way it acted it obviously belonged to a trainer and that worried him.
And before he could even think to call Soki back to him, another teen appeared who seemed to be the Ninetales' trainer.
"We've been fighting for our lives.." Jin whispered, staring up at the other with wary suspicion, absently reaching for the Eevee that was still growling a warning.
"No."

He glanced at the Eevee once again before smiling softly, as a show he meant no harm. "Let me help you then," Zell said lightly before offering his hand to the other. It was obvious to any who looked that the brunette was a gentle trainer, his Ninetales was proof. For aggressive people the Ninetales too became aggressive, but Kian wasn't, he peered worriedly at the smaller Pokemon.
"Did you run into that pack of Murkrow?" He asked lightly before glancing around, "No one knows why, but they started attacking trainers lately. Kian and I ran into them as well."
The brunette calmly helped the other trainer sit up, "We should get your Eevee to the Pokemon Center too, it looks pretty injured."
Truth was, Zell didn't need to be in this area anymore. He was already all set to go to the Pokemon League, but he wasn't quite confident enough in himself just yet. He was still working on catching and training Pokemon that might be able to help him against the Elite Four, but the lack of Fire Pokemon in this region was a bit sad.

"Soki.." Jin called to the defensive Eevee, finger tips barely grazing over the very ends of the fox-like Pokemon's bushy tail. Apparently catching her attention for the small Pokemon turned around and hopped in to his lap, mewling and nuzzling in to his stomach. The youth couldn't stop from smiling a bit, placing a shaky hand on her back in a comforting manner. "I'll be okay.. As long as you're safe, Soki." He whispered seeming to have momentarily forgotten the presence of the other teen and his Pokemon.
Though, upon hearing the others voice once more, Jin turned to look at him a bit curiously. "A pack of Murkrow have been acting up? Are you talking about the juvenile group about five miles back? If so, the simplest thing to do is play with them, after all they're just toddlers and crave attention. And just like human children, they get angry when they don't get their way, which is why they must have attacked." He explained simply, as if it was the obvious reason to all. Though, it was probably something only he had realized considering he was training to be a Pokemon breeder.
"I know... I lost my pack.. so I can't treat her wounds myself." He mumbled before dropping his gaze to his lap, staring in to the small Pokemon's coal eyes quietly. He knew it was a corny and cliche thing to say or think, but the Eevee had become his best friend over the months they had been together.

Zell tilted his head thoughtfully at the other's explanation on what was going on with the Murkrow, "Oh... that makes sense," he replied almost distractedly before he offered the violet haired teen a smile. "You know a lot, are you training to be a Pokemon Breeder?" the brunette asked, peering at the Eevee curiously.
That was the first Eevee he had seen in this region, so he assumed with this trainer came from somewhere else. Like he did.
"My name is Zell," he said lightly, "and this is Kian." He gestured to the Ninetales seated patiently beside him, who seeming bowed as he was introduced. "We're from Blackthorn City in the Johto Region."
With his introduction finished, the blue eyed teen carefully moved to help the other boy stand, "We can get you more supplies in town, and Soki will be treated well at the Pokemon Center," he said, obviously having gone there himself at one point or another. Kain calmly stood to approach the Eevee, silently offering her a ride on his back if she needed it.

Jin was taken aback at the spot on guess the other made at what he was training to be. Tilting his head slightly, causing the matted tresses to shift to the side slightly, "Yes, I am training to be a Pokemon Breeder." Unconsciously smiling back at the other teen, feeling Soki shift a bit and puff herself up a bit proudly.
"Forgive me for my lack of manners," he murmured ashamedly, "My name is Jin and this is Soki, obviously." He finished lamely and stuck his tongue out playfully, relaxing a little around the other youth. "We're from Vermilion City in the Kanto Region. It's a pleasure to meet you, Zell and Kian."
Feeling a bit more stable with knowing the other teen's name and origin, gently nudging the Eevee from his lap before shifting forward slightly. Dragging his legs under himself a bit and attempting to push himself up. "I'll have to call my Dad.. I'm completely broke since my pack was taken by some rascally Aipom some time ago."

With a wide grin, Zell moved Jin's arm over his shoulder so that he could help support him, "I'm training to be a Pokemon Master," he said absently. It was almost as if he felt he needed to reveal that to his new acquaintance. He hoped that they could become friends, though he wasn't sure how well that might work out in the end.
"It's nice to meet you, Jin. And you too Soki," he said with a soft smile as his Ninetales lowered his head so that he could take in the Eevee's scent. Kian seemed to approve of the smaller Pokemon as he laid down so that she could climb onto his back. Zell blinked in surprise at his partner's actions.
"Oh, I could help you out until then," he offered with a light nod, "Yeah, they like to steal things, so you have to be careful."
With a glance back at Kian, he calmly began helping Jin to the near by town, Solaceon.

Taking in a deep breath Jin prepared himself for the wave of nausea that was sure to come when he finally stood properly. Laughing a bit though it was soft and weak, shaking his thin frame and causing his knees to buckle slightly, making him tighten his slight hold upon the other. "I wouldn't have guessed, not many trainers start off with a Vulpix."
Emerald orbs following the other teen's sapphire gaze, blinking slightly and watching closely as the larger fox Pokemon sniffed the smaller one. Unable to stop himself from gasping softly in surprise at the Ninetails' exceptionally kind nature. Watching in equal amazement as Soki playfully pawed the fire-fox's snout before climbing on to it's back and settling down comfortably.
"You'll help me? That'd be great.. and in return I'll make Kian a more specialized Poke-food." Jin counter offered the brunet with a small smile.
Mimicking the other youth for second, looking back at Soki before starting to hobble along with Zell's help.

He gave a soft laugh, "Yeah, I've had Kian for a long time," he began softly, "In fact, my mom gave him to me while he was still in his egg. So I basically hatched him." Zell said with a soft smile playing on his lips at the memory. "Apparently, there's only a 27% chance of getting a male Vulpix or something, but I happened to get one. Kian was a shock to everyone." The brunette explained with another soft laugh.
"Nine!" Kian cried cheerfully before he carefully stood with the small fox-like Pokemon on his back. He easily caught up with the two trainers, his tails swishing slightly as he walked.
Zell bowed his head respectfully as they slowly made their way past the Lost Tower. "This tower is a Pokemon graveyard," he explained, as to make sure the other understood his actions. Kian did the same before peering up at the tower with crimson eyes. It was common knowledge that Ninetales are more sensitive to the spirit world then other Pokemon.
"Just a little further now."

"Yeah, females are more common in the Vulpix breed. You're rather lucky to have gotten such a rarity, and to have been able to hatch him personally," he said softly, "I'm a bit jealous." Jin was being half serious and simply playful at the same time, though, he wasn't sure if the other would catch on. "I've only had Soki for half a year.. My mom found her in a trash can just barely out of her egg.. Someone had apparently disliked the fact she had hatched female and not male." The violet haired male said softly, a bit of sadness over taking him at the memory of his mother and how his beloved Eevee had been treated at such a tender stage of her life.
"Mew mew!" Soki called happily but softly, having crawled up Kian's neck to peer over his head at her trainer. Hoping the soft cry would dispel his sudden somber mood.
"They may be gone.. but they're not forgotten, rest well dear friends." Jin murmured respectfully, having bowed his head slightly upon nearing the tower. One of the reasons Soki and he had been traveling this way was to come and pay their respects to the passed Pokemon.
Nodding lightly in understanding when Zell informed him of how close they were getting to town.

Zell glanced at the other train, giving a soft laugh, "Well, your training to be a breeder, right?" he asked lightly, "You'll be able to hatch a lot of your own Pokemon," the brunette said cheerfully before his expression turned serious at Jin's explanation of how he got Soki, "People that do something like that are scum," he said in a low tone before the serious atmosphere vanished as they passed the tower and made their way into the small town.
"We should go to the Pokemon Center first, right? And I could treat your wounds while Soki is being treated." Zell stated lightly as he gestured to the large building that was obviously the Pokemon Center.
The town truly was rather small, having a Poke-mart, a Pokemon Center, and a few scattered cottages. Not to mention there was a small Daycare center for Pokemon across the way from the Pokemon Center. People usually came to Solaceon Town for some fresh air, as well as to visit the Lost Tower. Zell personally went there to catch a few Ghost-type Pokemon.
Kian kept his trainer's pace perfectly as he made sure that Soki wasn't going to fall off of his head. It was rare that the Ninetales let another Pokemon crawl all over him, but he really seemed to like Jin's Eevee.
The brunette greeted a few of the towns people as they passed before pausing at the front doors of the Pokemon Center.

"I maybe training to be a breeder, but that doesn't mean I'll be given the privilege of hatching a male Vulpix." Jin stated in a matter of fact tone, nodding lightly in agreement with the other trainer. He could never forgive someone that treated a Pokemon in such a manner. And unfortunately his own mother was counted among the many unknown people that treated Pokemon in terrible manner. Frowning slightly to himself and shaking his head a bit, the violet haired teen sighed lightly and remained silent.
Glancing over at the other teen as they entered the small town of Solaceon, nodding lightly in agreement to Zell's assumptions. Allowing himself to be lead along still, though, now he was no longer hobbling but limping slightly from a bruised foot. Quietly taking in the details of the small town, noting where the Poke-mart was and how far it was from the Pokemon Center. Making a mental note to make sure to go there and pick up his supplies after his father sent money.
It wasn't normal for Soki to be so trusting of an unknown Pokemon, but there seemed to be something about the Ninetails that she liked. And from the looks of things, her trainer was becoming very trusting of Kian's trainer as well.
"Let's go inside.. I want Soki to be looked at as soon as possible."

"Ah, I guess your right," he said in realization, "well, there's always that 27% chance?" Zell offered with a small smile. "I have a bunch of female Vulpix that I recently hatched as well, even though they stay with my mother in Blackthorn City. I'm sure they stir things up there quite a bit," the brunette said with a lightly laugh, "considering that Blackthorn is known for it's Dragon-type Pokemon."
He glanced at the violet haired teen before nodding lightly, "Alright," he agreed, "maybe I should get Kian checked out too while we're here." Zell muttered as he lead Jin, and the two following Pokemon into the Pokemon Center.
The Ninetales calmly followed his trainer, tilting his head slightly at Zell's muttered words. The Pokemon could tell that the brunette was concerned for him after his battle with the several Ghost-types of the Lost Tower. Truth was, Kian was a bit tired and could probably use the rest.
Zell lead his new friend to the front counter, offering a smile to the local Nurse Joy.
The woman peered at them before she turned her gaze to the Eevee and Ninetales standing beside them, "Oh dear," she murmured before she turned back to Zell, "I'll take care of them right away Zell," Nurse Joy said with a kind smile.
The brunette merely blinked before chuckling, "Thank you, you always know exactly why I'm here." With that said, he glanced at Kian, who knew the drill, and turned to lead Jin to a near by couch.
The fire-fox Pokemon calmly waited until his trainer was seated before he turned to follow Nurse Joy to the back. Kian silently hoped that Soki wouldn't flip out over something like this, so he make a small comforting noise for the smaller fox-like Pokemon.
